You’ve got three extra days to file your income taxes, thanks to a little-known Washington, D.C., holiday that happens to fall on April 16 this year. Emancipation Day celebrates the freeing of slaves in the District of Columbia. In the spirit of the holiday, the district will observe the holiday on Friday, April 15 this year, granting government workers there yet another three-day weekend. Aw, we’re sure they need another break after all that squabbling over the budget.
Speaking of holidays, this Sunday is the Christian observance of Palm Sunday and Tuesday marks the Jewish Passover.
We would like to wish a very happy birthday to the following folk this week: Cheryl Mazzola, April 15; Bif Burge, Harlie Dodds and Jon Burnell, April 17; Sam Burnell, April 18; Jake Smith, April 19; Kristopher Borchard, Evelyn Metzger and Kenzie Turner, April 20.
Happy anniversary to Leif and Margie Joy, April 17; Mark and Julie Cook, April 19; and anniversary greetings to Ron and Bobbie Leeper, also April 19.
Did we miss you? We’re sorry! Please let us know so we can add you to our birthday/anniversary database.
