Barone Middle School students submitted 21 History Day projects this year and several are moving up to the next level of competition this month. The theme this year was “Frontiers in History.”
Board members thanked MES staff for putting together this year’s spelling bee.
Several students from Meeker School District were in attendance for the regular school board meeting Monday, earning extra credit.
The school board “reluctantly” accepted Meeker Elementary School teacher Becky Hughes’ resignation. Hughes said she has loved her job at MES, and though she’s retiring, hopes to continue being engaged with the district as a volunteer and as a substitute.
Also retiring this year is bus driver Toni Francis. As she steps out, Robert Lancaster, fairly new to the district, will step in.
Superintendent Chris Selle said the district is planning to send out a community survey. They’ve surveyed graduates before, but are hoping to get a wider array of opinions and perspectives from the community as a whole.
Interviews for the elementary school principal position are set for March 10. Selle said they have four applications in which have not yet been reviewed.
