MEEKER | Meeker’s board of trustees covered multiple topics, at their Oct. 15 meeting.
Sportsman’s Club
Dave Overton from the Meeker Sportsman’s Club shared the good news of the Club finding some land for a new shooting range.
The Club requested $17,000 from the town. The board motioned and seconded to include the request of $17,000 into the 2020 budget. The police department agreed to add in the $2,000 they have saved on top of the $17,000 to make the Town’s total contribution $19,000.
Recycling bid
Bids for the recycling project were split between Overton Recycling and Eagle River Waste Services.
Eagle River won the bid and will be taking paper, cardboard, aluminum cans, metals and glass. This will be implemented in January 2020.
Better Cities The board decided to not renew the town’s contract with Better Cities. This decision was based off seeing minimal results and saving $2,000 a month to use on other community development ideas.
2020 Budget Available for Review
A proposed 2020 budget is available to the public on request. There will be a public hearing on Tuesday, Nov. 19.
