Meeker | On Friday, Oct. 13 Meeker High School put on their second annual Give Back Day. More than 80 students showed up to aid elderly and disabled members of the community. Student Council organized the event. Volunteers arrived at Meeker High School at 8:30 a.m. to receive their team and assignments. Students signed up to volunteer through their math class, and then Student Council organized a plethora of groups to accomplish tasks.
Forty-six community members signed up for aid. Most of these community members resided in town. A handful of others lived outside of town limits. Students completed all of the requested work an hour and a half early, sending everyone home by 12:30 p.m. Student Council originally scheduled the event to end at 2 p.m.
Students participated in various activities, such as yardwork, ditch clean-ups and home organization. This work signaled their “thank you” to the community for all that the community continues to do to support the students through academics, athletics and other school oriented activities.
