After an engineering review that found “no fatal flaws” but did include some suggestions for changes, Meeker trustees asked for additional time to approve a proposed contract agreement with Diggin It Riverworks Inc. during the March 5 board meeting. The contract discussion was rescheduled for April 2.
Trustees also reviewed five updates to the Meeker Municipal Code. Administrator Mandi Etheridge explained that following last year’s land use code updates, town staff and the planning department anticipated there would be edits to the municipal code.
One proposed edit would allow for conditional commercial use as a recreational facility in a mixed residential zone, for example, having a gym or fitness center based out of a private residence.
The second item reviewed would change the allowable temporary occupancy of an RV on private property by an out-of-town guest from 14 consecutive days in a 30-day period to seven days in a 90-day period. Trustee Melissa Kindall suggested that as enforcement on that code is “pretty new, maybe it’s good to try it the way it is.”
The remaining three items involve codes involving subdivisions.
Five items were listed, with several trustees requesting red-lined versions of the changes before deciding. There will be an official ordinance process with opportunity for public comment before proposed edits are finalized.
In regular business, trustees approved a special event liquor license for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation banquet on March 23; approved a change of corporate name for the liquor license at Go-Fer Foods from Fey’s Business Ventures Inc. to Fey Family Investments Inc.; and approved a conditional use permit for the Church at Meeker DBA Firm Foundations Early Learning Center at 1032 Jennifer Dr.
A bid from Northwest Auto for a new police vehicle was awarded in the amount of $41K for a 2024 GMC Canyon truck. Two bids were received for the 2024 street crack fill project to be reviewed by staff and awarded at the next meeting.
Ballots for the municipal election are being mailed to residents within town limits. The election is set for April 2.
