It’s FALL, y’all!
And Homecoming week!
The Meeker Food Bank is collaborating with Food Bank of the Rockies for a big food drive that started Monday and continues through Oct. 4. Food insecurity is at a 10-year high and 1 in 7 people on the Western Slope are facing hunger. If you can, grab a couple extra cans or boxes or other nonperishables and drop them off at Watt’s, PMC, Meeker Christian Church, Streamline Realty or any of the three schools in Meeker. Let’s help them get stocked up!
Don’t miss the Meeker homecoming parade this Friday at 1 p.m., and be sure to check out the advertisers and their “homecoming windows” supporting the Cowboys on page 8 of this week’s paper.
This is also Meeker Mustang Makeover weekend, and the Mustang Mingle (with live music!) on Friday. See the story on p. 2 for details.
It was a pretty wild week of news, again, with the announcement of five locals arrested and charged with starting the Yellow Jacket Fire in August. That story, and a charming feature about Butch Theos and Swallow Fork Ranch, written by Hallie Blunt, are in this week’s paper. Along with sports and Days Gone By and all your other favorites!
Thank you, dear readers. We appreciate you.
