Community News Roundup ~ Jan. 22, 2026

Happy Herald Day!

This note was tacked on the community bulletin board at the Meeker Post Office this week. I don’t know who posted it, but I’m grateful for this tangible message of kindness. I was planning to put it in the paper this week (along with a lot of other things) and then ran out of room, so I’m sharing it here because we all need to hear it.

There’s a lot of kid-related news in this week’s paper, because we have really awesome kids around here, and we are collectively proud of their accomplishments. There’s another reason to smile this week!

On another note, we are creating some focus groups as part of our sustainability campaign. I’m extending an invitation to our newsletter readers first: if you’re not a current print subscriber and are interested in participating in a discussion about the newspaper (date and time to be determined, with snacks provided), please send me an email to be added to the list for the first group!

Thank you all for reading, for advertising, for subscribing, and for helping us keep local news local. It matters.

~Niki
