Unfortunately, journalism is not free to produce, as much as I wish it was. In fact, I’d like a whole lot of things to be free, but that’s not the reality we live in.
As large advertisers continue to chop spending in favor of shinier platforms and sparklier “metrics,” as postal rates rise (we are paying a cool 125% more than we were last year), and as society slides even further into an attention crisis, we’ll be taking a very hard look at how to keep the presses running.
This will include more research into nonprofit status, experimenting with subscriptions and memberships (in plain terms: price increases), pursuing sponsorships, hosting events, exploring other funding sources, and probably lots of crying under my desk. 👉👉
If you see me running down Main Street screaming at the top of my lungs, don’t worry.
Get ready to rumble, peeps. It’s gonna be interesting.
