RANGELY I Fourteen teams entered the competitive annual two-man best ball tournament at Cedar Ridges Golf Course in Rangely last weekend, including teams from Rangely, Rifle, Fruita and Vernal, Utah. Three playoffs were needed to decide the final results.
Eighteen holes were played each day of the two-day event and it was Stratton Schulz and Braden Bennett of Vernal who won the first flight with a gross score of 133, six shots ahead of Dean Gibbs and Mike Wilson, also of Vernal.
A playoff was needed to determine the best net score in the first flight and Rangely’s Robby Elam and Casey Ducey were able to beat Blake Murray and Kendall Goodwin of Vernal. Both teams finished with a net score of 128.
A playoff was also needed to determine the winner in the second flight after former Rangely golf pro Dennis Rohn and Bret Tonozzi of Fruita tied at 144 with Mike Rowley and Nolan Massey of Vernal, with Rohn and Tonozzi winning the playoff.
Rangely’s Ryan Kennedy and Jason Cox finished with the best net score (116) in the second flight and Rangely’s Bryan Mackay and Ryan Elam were second with a net score of 129.
The annual Couples Classic will be played this weekend Aug. 4 and 5 at Cedar Ridges.
