Colorado Governor Jared Polis visited with Town of Meeker trustees Melissa Kindall, Chris Lockwood, Wendy Gutierrez, Scott Nielsen, Tiffany Jehorek and Travis Day; Rio Blanco County Commissioner Ty Gates; CPW Area Wildlife Manager Bill DeVergie, and CPW Commission member and local outfitter Marie Haskett last Friday at the Meeker Café for about an hour. Local officials addressed their concerns about the Office of Just Transition (OJT) funding, declining revenue from the loss of energy industry tax dollars, wolf reintroduction and wild horse management as well as lack of childcare facilities and affordable housing, among other topics. Polis said his administration is figuring out how to “fine tune” OJT funding, adding “it’s more important to get it right than to be urgent.”
