The Board of County Commission​ers originally published a Notice as to the Adoption of the Proposed Rio Blanco County 2024 Budget on November 23, 2023, November 30, 2023 and December 7, 2023. Due to the passage of SB23B-001 the budget adoption was delayed and has been continued to Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the Rio Blanco County Historic Courthouse, 555 Main St., 3rd Floor Commission​er’s Hearing Room, Meeker, CO. All interested citizens and groups are invited to attend. The Agenda for the Budget Meeting will be: Pledge of Allegiance; Changes or Additions to the Agenda; Hearing; Procedure of Hearing; Presentation of the proposed 2024 Budget; Presentation of the proposed 2024 HUTF spending by the Road and Bridge Director; Questions or Comments by the Public; Considerat​ion of Resolution to adopt the Rio Blanco County Budget for 2024; Considerat​ion of Resolution to appropriate sums of money for 2024; Considerat​ion of three resolutions to levy General Property Taxes for 2023, to help defray the cost of Rio Blanco County Government, Piceance Creek Pest Control District and Lower White River Pest Control District, all for budget year 2024. MUNICIPAL ELECTION

April 2, 2024

TO:

Any person, who is eligible by law, to be a candidate for the Offices of Mayor or Trustee for the Town of Meeker to be elected at the Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 please take notice:

A candidate’s qualificat​ions for eligibility to hold public office are:

1) Be a registered elector;

2) Attain the age of eighteen years or older on the date of the election and;

3) Reside in the town of Meeker for a period of at least twelve (12) consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election.

Nomination petitions may be circulated and signed beginning on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Nomination petitions and an information sheet for prospective candidates will be available at Town Hall, 345 Market Street, Meeker, on or after 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Regular office hours at Town Hall are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The last day for the circulation and signing of nomination petitions shall be Monday, January 22, 2024, on or before 5:00 p.m. All nomination petitions shall be filed with the Town Clerk at Town Hall by this date and time.

The following Town Officers will be elected at the election:

1) Mayor – two-year term;

2) Three members of the Town Board of Trustees – all four-year terms.

ORDINANCE No. 5, Series 2023

AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A BUDGET, SUMMARIZING EXPENDITURES AND REVENUES AND MAKING APPROPRIAT​IONS FOR EACH FUND FOR THE TOWN OF MEEKER, COLORADO, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING THE FIRST DAY OF JANUARY 2024 AND ENDING THE LAST DAY OF DECEMBER 2024.

WHEREAS, the Town of Meeker Board of Trustees, the “Town Board”, has received from the Town budget office a proposed budget for the 2024 fiscal year; and,

WHEREAS, upon due and proper notice, published in accordance with Local Government Budget Law of Colorado, the proposed budget was open for public inspection at the Meeker Town Hall, a public hearing was held on November 21, 2023, and interested Town electors were given the opportunity to file or register any objections to the proposed budget, up to the time of final adoption of the proposed budget; and,

WHEREAS, whatever increases or decreases may have been made in expenditur​es, like increases or decreases were made to the revenues, so that the budget remains in balance, as required by law;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF MEEKER, COLORADO:

1) The estimated expenditures and reserves in each fund are as follows:

Operating Expenses: $ 2,067,350​.00

Systems Development Amount: $ 3,336,350.00

Highway Users Tax Fund: $ 95,305.00

4) That the budget herewith approved and adopted by an affirmative vote of a majority of the Town Board shall be signed by the Mayor and made a part of the public records of the Town of Meeker.

5) Pursuant to C.R.S. §29-1-108, this ordinance shall be effective upon adoption.
