Rangely girls basketball dominates North Fork, extends winning streak

RANGELY | The Rangely girls basketball team returned to action last Saturday following a two-week Christmas break. The Lady Panthers traveled to Hotchkiss, Colorado, to face the North Fork Miners. Their previous matchup ended in a win for Rangely, and they delivered the same result this time, defeating the Miners 65-33 in a decisive blowout.

Winning by wide margins is becoming a trend this season for the Lady Panthers this season. They have now secured their last seven victories by at least 22 points each, building strong momentum early in the season.

Senior Miah Wren led the team with an impressive performance, scoring 22 points on 10-of-21 shooting and adding five rebounds. Her teammate Junior Aubriana Tapia contributed significantly with a double-double, tallying 18 points and 10 rebounds.

With Saturday’s win, the Lady Panthers improved their record to 8-0 for the 2024-25 season. It also marked their eighth consecutive road victory, a streak that dates back to last season. Rangely has been dominant offensively, averaging 61.3 points per game.

The loss ended a three-game home winning streak for the North Fork Miners, who dropped to 4-3 on the season.

Rangely will face the Hayden Tigers on Friday night in what promises to be a thrilling matchup. The game, set to tip off at 5:30 p.m., will see the Tigers enter with a 3-3 record as they aim to hand the Lady Panthers their first loss of the season. Hayden will have to slow down Rangely’s high-powered offense, which is averaging 58.1 points per game.

Fans are encouraged to come out Friday night to support the Lady Panthers. Good luck to the Rangely girls basketball team, and Go Panthers!
