Rangely No. 3 safest town from burglaries in Colorado

RANGELY I ConsumerAffairs.com analyzed FBI and Census Bureau data from 2014 to create a map displaying the safest cities in the United States, and Rangely is ranked No. 3 in Colorado for the lowest odds of a burglary taking place.

The FBI’s annual report Crime in the United States revealed the estimated number of violent crimes reported by law enforcement during 2014 dropped by 0.2 percent and the estimated number of property crimes decreased 4.3 percent when compared with 2013 data.
Rangely comes in at No. 3 in Colorado behind Frederick and Eagle, which were No. 1 and No. 2 respectively, in the odds of a burglary taking place..
Figuring the odds of burglary, Frederick had the odds of 1 out of 10,607, its one-year burglary rate went down 83.3 percent, the town had 18.86 police officers per every 10,000 people, there were 9.43 serious crimes per each 1,000 people and there were 0.27 crimes per day.
No. 2 Eagle had burglary odds of 1 out of 3,264, its one-year burglary rate remained unchanged, there are 15.2 officers per 10,000 residents, there were 22.98 crimes per thousand people and a reported 0.41 crimes daily.
No. 3 Rangely had burglary odds of 1 out of 2,447, its burglary rate declined 66.7 percent, the town has 32.69 officers per 10,000 population, there were 11.44 crimes per 1,000 people, and there were 0.08 crimes per day.
No. 4 in Colorado is Granby while No. 5 is Cortez. The odds in Granby are 1 in 1,774 while in Cortez, it is 1 in 1,718 and the two towns reported burglary rates in 2014 were down by 83.3 and 68.8 percent, respectively. Granby has 39.46 officers were 10,000 residents while Cortez has 79.18 per 10,000 residents. Granby reported .15 crimes per day while Cortez averaged 1.86.
The next five safest towns in Colorado as being free of burglaries are: No. 6 is Firestone; No. 7 is Ault; No. 8 is New Castle; No 9 is Crested Butte; and No. 10 is Buena Vista.

Meeker is No. 20 out of the 122 Colorado towns and cities analyzed.
The odds of a burglary in Meeker were 1 in 835, the burglary rate was down 40 percent, there are 23.96 officers for every 10,000 people, there were 22.36 crimes for every 1,000 people, and there were .15 crimes per day.
In comparison, nationally, the odds of a burglary were 1 in 182, the burglary rates was down 11.95 percent, there were 22.98 officers for every 10,000 people, the crime rate was 64.65 per 1,000 people and there were 36,904.83 serious crimes per day.
The five worst towns in Colorado as analyzed by Consumer Affairs.com of FBI and Census Bureau data from 2014, named Monte Vista as 118th, LaJunta as 119th and Pueblo as 120th, followed by Lakeside and Black Hawk, which came in at Nos. 121 and 122, respectively.
