RANGELY I The first bell signaling the start of the 2014 school year has yet to ring, but the Rangely High School golf team has already started practice and will open its season today in Grand Valley.

Football, volleyball and cross country will officially start practice on Monday.
“Golf started today,” Crandal Mergelman, the new assistant principal and activities director said from his office Monday.
Mergelman will replace long-time teacher and coach Mark Skelton, who is now the head golf coach.
“Robert Dunker and James Scoggins are our seniors,” Coach Skelton said. “We blend some good experience with a handful of rookies.”
Football and volleyball practice start Aug. 11.
Head football coach Paul Fortunato said he is excited about football practice starting on Monday at 4 p.m.
The volleyball team will again be coached by Jimmie Mergelman, and Beth Scoggins will be back to coach the cross-country team. Both programs will also start practice Monday.
