RANGELY I Twenty-eight youth wrestlers from Rangely competed in the final tournament of the season in Parachute on Saturday, and more than half placed in the top four of their brackets, including three champions.
Jaden Heredia, Kobey Chism and Dontea Pearce each won gold medals in their final tournament. Heredia and Chism each only lost two matches during the entire season.
Kenny Hensen, Landen Carlson, Stephen Koenig, Zane Varner and Dakota Hartman all finished as runners-up. Breckin McElhaney, Braden Lucas, Ezekiel Gianinetti, Anthony Doris and Corbin Lucero all won bronze medals and finished the season as consolation champs.
Wyatt Petty, Clay Allred and Marcos Quintanna placed fourth in their respective weights, to round out Rangely’s top four placers.
“I would like to personally thank my coaches for all their help and dedication to the season,” said coach Jeff LeBleu, who has been involved with Rangely’s wrestling program for 25 years. “And thanks to all the parents for their help throughout the season.”
