RBC I Voters who signed the petition to recall Rio Blanco County Commissioner Gary Moyer can expect some progress one way or another in the next few weeks.
Following the second petition to recall Moyer being filed and a subsequent protest by Matt Scott, in which Rio Blanco County Clerk and Recorder Boots Campbell acted as hearing officer, Scott filed a civil suit in district court. The suit alleges Campbell violated Scott’s due process rights because she was “not a neutral arbitor” in the case.
Ninth Judicial District Judge David Boyd heard from attorneys for both parties on Monday, Jan. 24, in a telephone conference. Boyd told the attorneys he would take the case under advisement and scheduled a hearing for Feb. 9 at 8:30 a.m., unless he issues a written decision prior to that date.
