RBC I The Rio Blanco County Republican Party held its assembly last weekend to determine which candidates will proceed to the primary ballot in June.
The following individuals were nominated for the four-year terms that are up for election:
• Commissioner District 1 – Virginia “Ginny” Love and Douglas Overton. Vincent Wilczek did not turn in a petition for the District 1 commissioner seat, and received less than 30% of the delegate vote at the assembly. Todd Shults did not attend the assembly or turn in a petition.
• Sheriff–Anthony Mazzola and Richard Garner
• Clerk & Recorder–Shawn Luce
• Treasurer–Rhonna Waldref
• Assessor–Renae Neilson
• Surveyor–Leif Joy
• Coroner–Laura Smith
For the recall election of Commissioner Gary Moyer, Ginny Love and Terry Smalec have turned in petitions to be the successor candidate. If elected, the successor will fill the seat until January 2023 when the winner of the general election in November will be sworn in. The recall election is set for May 10. Ballots will be mailed out mid-April.
