RHS Panthers run in Delta

RBC I The Rangely Panthers cross country team ran in the heat in Delta on Friday and they will run in Basalt next.
“I was encouraged by the team’s performance in the 100-degree heat, but I’m looking forward to cooler temperatures anticipated for our next race in Basalt,” head coach Beth Scoggins said. “The runners expect to improve on their opening weekend performances.”
Rangely senior Tessa Slagle competed in the varsity event and ran the 5K course in 24:22.10, finishing 43rd in a field of 85 while classmate Tanner Nielsen and junior Micthell Webber ran most of the race together, finishing less than four seconds apart, with Nielsen crossing the finish line in 20:56.60 and Webber in 21 minutes flat.
Rangely freshman Savannah Nielsen and sophomore Rebecca Gillard ran in their first-ever cross country race as JV runners, finishing the 5K course in 32:17.10 and 36:35.50, respectively.
Rangely even had a runner in the junior high division, as RaeLynn Norman ran the 3K with 50 other middle school students from around the Western Slope, finishing the race in 15:51.
