MEEKER I The decorations might be up and the shopping underway but for kids it’s hard to believe Christmas is really on the way until they’ve visited with Santa.
Since 2003, Santa has come to Meeker for a special breakfast and to hear Christmas requests in early December. Over the years he has arrived via four-wheeler, snowmobile and sleigh, with and without a police escort.
This year’s Breakfast with Santa will be held at the Fairfield Center at Third and Main, not at the fairgrounds extension building as in previous years.
Last year 528 people enjoyed a free breakfast provided by the Meeker Lions Club, and approximately 300 kids shared their Christmas lists with Santa.
Members of the Lions Club arrive at 5 a.m. to prepare the special breakfast. This year the meal will include pancakes, sausage, juice, coffee and, for the first time, eggs.
Family and friends who bring their cameras can capture “priceless” moments as tykes visit with Santa.
Those wishing to donate to the Meeker Food Bank, please bring non-perishable food items.
Families of all ages are welcome to join Santa for the free breakfast this Saturday, Dec. 3, from 8:30-11 a.m.
Everyone is invited and everything is free.
