CAM’s Ag Academy, an Agricultural Literacy Outreach program, is an integral part of the Agricultural Education program at Colorado State University and is taking the classroom on the road this summer to a few select county fairs, including the Rio Blanco County Fair.
CAM’s Classroom, a hands-on, interactive experience designed to ignite curiosity about agriculture, food, and natural resources. This engaging program, which gained popularity at the National Western Stock Show Ag Adventure, promises a memorable and educational journey for participants of all ages. Partnering with CSU Extension, Rio Blanco County 4-H, and the Rio Blanco County Fairboard, CAM’s Classroom will host a variety of ag-related activities, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for agriculture in Rio Blanco County.
One of the activities leading up to the Fair is the Ag Education & Fair Promotion, a youth leadership opportunity scheduled for Friday, June 23, from 2-4 p.m. in downtown Meeker. RBC youth and CAM’s Ag Academy CSU interns will educate and invite community members, business owners, and visitors to learn about the RBC Fair and its myriad offerings. The event’s goals and objectives include encouraging community involvement at the fair, educating attendees on how they can participate in the fair, and promoting agricultural education in collaboration with CAM’s Ag in the Classroom team from Colorado State University. Expect mini ag lessons, engaging discussions, and an invitation for everyone to come to the Fair, participate in Fair, and become an Ag Ambassador at the Fair.
