How ‘bout them Broncos? How much fun was it watching the Broncos on Monday Night Football pull off one of the most incredible comebacks in NFL history in an important divisional game against the San Diego Chargers? The lessons I learned as a fan were: never give up on your coaches, your team, your teammates or yourself and good things can happen.
It has also been fun watching our local sports teams work together and accomplish great things. The Rangely Middle School volleyball teams (seventh- and eighth-grade) proved to be the best team in the season-ending league tournament held last weekend in Steamboat Springs as both teams brought home championship trophies.
The Rangely High School football team, who dropped down to eight-man play this year, secured their first playoff spot in several years with a pounding of the Soroco Rams on their home field last week. The seniors will be honored this Friday when they host South Park on Yaeger Field, hopefully in front of a large crowd.
It will be fun to watch Rangely and Meeker play volleyball in Meeker Friday, as two of the best teams in the league play for seeding positions in the upcoming district tournament. Both teams always seem to bring out the best in each other, making the match more fun for fans to watch. In support of breast cancer awareness month, fans are asked to help “Pink Out” the bleachers by wearing pink to the games Thursday and Friday.
The Cowboys will host Roaring Fork this Friday in Starbuck Stadium and the team will honor their parents.
It’s also fun watching our local government officials and special taxing district board members create a team and work together on projects and I’m excited to see what good things they make happen.
