Some unknown person or persons apparently tried to dig up and make off with roughly 15 to 20 plants Saturday night or early Sunday at Meeker’s Sanderson Hills Park. The plants were discovered early Sunday, dug up with the root balls intact, according to Meeker ERBM Recreation Center Director Mike Weinbrecht. He and Rod Gerloff, who discovered the plants, were able to replant all but about five of the plants. Weinbrecht asked that if anyone sees suspicious activity in any of the parks in town to please call the rec center during normal business hours (878-3403) or Meeker Police Department during evening and night hours.
More than 300 persons were on hand Saturday noon for the dedication of the new Sanderson Park setup and trail head.
