A long line of hungry folks dug into nine entrées, elk dip, potatoes, salad and vegetables as part of the sixth annual Wild Game Dinner on Saturday night at CNCC-Rangely. The event included music by Rangely group Fiscus & Gravy and silent and vocal auctions. Roughly 100 people took part in the event.
John Whipple, the outdoor leadership coordinator and challenge course manager at Colorado Northwestern Community College, filled the roles of cook, emcee and auctioneer Saturday night at the sixth annual Wild Game Dinner fundraiser for the Spartan Times and Spartan Rock & Ice. Dinner entrées featured bison, elk, deer and salmon cooked a variety of ways. Winners in the cooking contest were Alden Vanden Brink and his elk porcupine meatballs, which tied with for first place with Sue Forward’s buffalo roast soup, followed by Whipple’s buffalo pepper steaks.
