Enjoying the sunshine just after Saturday morning’s fog lifted was this group of does along with about seven other does and one lone buck. The deer were gathered in a field about 50 yards off Highway 13 south of Meeker and seemed calm enough to know that hunting season was over and that they should have safe sailing until next year, if they can avoid any run-ins with vehicles on area roads. Highway 13 is the worst road in the state for vehicle/wildlife collisions, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
A flock of turkeys had what appeared to be a party outing on Friday in celebration of having survived Thanksgiving. There were about 60 turkeys in this group, which gathered not 100 yards off the highway a couple of miles south of Meeker.
