Hoar frost formed on trees throughout the area recently due to heavy humidity and temperatures in the teens. The fog that limited visibility to only a couple of blocks at night caused ice crystals to settle on warmer structures like plants. The ice crystals keep growing, only to disappear after a brief appearance by the sun.
