MEEKER | Meeker natives Theo “Ted” and Gayle Stewart are this week’s “home of” honorees. Theo is the son of the late Stanley and Nellie Stewart. Gayle’s parents are Glen and the late Mary Glasgow. Both Theo and Gayle attended Meeker schools. Theo was graduated from Meeker High School in 1968 and Gayle in 1970. Theo and Gayle will celebrate their 40th anniversary Sept. 16.
Theo is retired from Colowyo Coal Company where he worked as a dragline operator for 33 years. Gayle is a homemaker.
The Stewarts have two children. Their son Ryan Stewart lives in Clifton. Ryan is the purchasing manager for the Colorado Mesa University bookstore. Their daughter Amy Stewart lives in Meeker. Amy is employed by AeroCare.
Theo comes from a family of nine children, two of his siblings are deceased. His other siblings are his brother Gary and wife Linda, brother Frank and wife Sheila, brother Bill and wife Voni, and sister Jean Gianinetti, all of Meeker; sister Reba Schaller and husband Bob of Lakewood, and brother Tom Stewart of Las Vegas, Nev.
Gayle has one brother, Greg Glasgow of Meeker.
“We like to golf. Theo likes to hunt. I play cards twice a month with the “DD Club.” The DD Club is a ladies card club that began playing card games together around the end of World War II. We also like being able to get out and have a picnic and go 4-wheeling.” Gayle explained.
“I love the small town atmosphere here, knowing people since I grew up. I like being able to get to the hills in 20 minutes. Meeker is my home. It’s where my family and friends are,” Gayle added.
