RBC I The Rangely Panthers youth wrestling team traveled to Craig last Saturday for the Levi Weber Memorial Tournament with 27 wrestlers. They returned from Moffat County with all placing in the top four.
“I just want to say how great of a job they did,” coach Andy Lucero said. “I was very proud of how they all wrestled. We had 14 kids competing in the championship matches.”
Jaden Heredia, Breckin McElhaney, Kobey Chism, Karver Lamoreaux and Tytus Coombs each won their brackets and earned gold medals for their efforts.
Carmella Fortunato, Steven Raley, Colin Zadra, Marcos Oquintana, Tyce Lucero, Wyatt Zuflet, Zane Varner, Byron Mackay and Hunter Hanvey were all runners-up.
Bronze medals were won by Matthew Morgan, Douglas Slack, Landon Carlson, Andrew Slack, Luis Quintana, Corbin Lucero, Dontea Pearce and Brody McElhaney.
Drew Zadra, Tim Stieb, Jeffrey Slack, Damen Maybury and Kasen LeBleu each finished fourth in their respective eight classes.
The young Panther wrestlers will compete in Hayden on Saturday.
