Meeker home demolished after ‘hot’ uranium ore found inside

The Folgers coffee can inside this bucket was filled with “significantly radioactive” uranium when the home at 1189 Park St. in Meeker was demolished late last week. A couple more small samples of the “hot” ore were found in the backyard. The radioactive material as well as surrounding soil and the residence have all been cleared up and shipped to a nuclear waste dump site near Steamboat Springs.
