RANGELY I A large delegation of western Rio Blanco 4-H livestock judges attended the Casper College Livestock Judging Camp in Casper, Wyo., June 27-29. Parents Deserai Lapp and Lindsey Wiley, 4-H’rs Tristan Moore, Kacie and Samantha Lapp, Kaylee and Layne Mecham, Alexis and Alana Wiley and coach Bonnie Long gave reasons and learned a lot of information regarding structure, muscle and condition in livestock animals.
At the end of the week, everyone participated in the contest and the results were very favorable. Kacie Lapp was second high individual and Tristan Moore was sixth high individual in the beginner division. Samantha Lapp, 10, was fifth high individual in the advanced division and walked away very happy with a $4,000 scholarship to Casper College.
Kaylee Mecham had a bad day on paper but was acknowledged as fifth high reasons in the advanced division.
Lindsey Wiley worked hard giving reasons and placing classes to win the adult division. Deserai Lapp was fifth high individual adult.
The camp was very informative and only helped to prepare the kids for their upcoming contests in Billings, Mont., Nashville, Tenn., and their return trip to Calgary, Canada.
Thanks to EnCana Oil and Gas and coach Bonnie Long for sponsoring the trip and fees for the kids to attend.
