MEEKER | Some fortunate young women will receive scholarship assistance for their higher ed endeavors thanks to P.E.O.’s successful 2023 quilt show. Featuring 118 never-before-displayed quilts, this year’s event attracted nearly 300 visitors.
The local P.E.O. Chapter BA in Meeker sponsors this annual event as its primary fundraiser. More than $4,000 will be disbursed as scholarships and grants to qualifying women.
Most of the quilts are created by local and regional residents whose talents are evident in the craftmanship and beauty of their works. Others are loaned by folks who have inherited quilts or have their own stash of beauties.
Homemade baked goods were sold with the help of our high school’s FCCLA organization which wrapped up the goodies and helped with sales.
The Meeker P.E.O. Chapter BA was established in 1919 and continues a long tradition of sisterhood, community support and educational opportunities for women. P.E.O. is a state, national and international organization that continues to honor the same goals established more than 100 years ago.
