RANGELY — Rangely 4-H Makin’ Bacon Swine Club held its monthly meeting April 22 at the home of leader Debbie Smith. Nineteen people attended the meeting.
There were three presentations: Katie Allred and Antoinette Doris discussed four types of interesting pigs, Myriah Merino and Shelby Neiberger reviewed pork cuts and Tessa Slagle presented swine facts and trivia questions. The meeting ended with a History Channel movie about the making of bologna, salami, pastrami, liverwurst and headcheese.
The feeder show will be Saturday, May 10 at the Rangely community pens. It will start at 10 a.m. Vaccinations will be given to the animals for $2 each. The showmanship clinic is Saturday, May 24.
Summer plans for the Makin’ Bacon Swine Club to have a summer fun day between the middle of June and beginning of July in Roosevelt were discussed. The next meetings will be during the weigh-in and the showmanship clinic in May.
