Richard Nickson was surprised by many of his relatives and friends to celebrate his 80th birthday at the Rangely Muesum Park Sept. 15. Nickson donned a pink with purple polka dots hat and enjoyed a large pink with purple polka dots birthday cake. The pink with purple polka dots is an inside family joke that will be passed down through the years. Family and friends enjoyed a picnic-style meal and several hours of visiting. Nickson thanked everyone for coming and that he owed them all one for keeping him in the dark, as it seemed everyone in Rangely knew about the surprise but him. He also expressed special thanks to his daughter and her family and friends for all the secret hours they put in to making this day so special, and to his son for all the memorial pictures he took.
According to a survey by the American Research Group, Inc., Americans will spend an average of $431 on Christmas gifts this year.
It’s hard to pull one over on Denise Pearce but several friends were able to surprise the “princess” on her 50th birthday last week. Happy birthday Denise!
