Rangely boys eighth, girls 12th at regionals

Members of the Rangely High School boys’ and girls’ track teams. Two members - Audrey Hogan and Logan Osborne - qualified for the state meet.
RANGELY I This past weekend the regional track meet was held in Grand Junction’s Stocker Stadium. Rangely High School is sending two individuals to the state competition in three different events: Audrey Hogan in the 800 run and 1,600 run and Logan Osborne in the 300 hurdles. The tracksters had to place in the top three to qualify for state or make pre-qualifying time.
The boys placed sixth in the 3,200 relay with a time of 9:34.14. Devin Williams placed sixth in the 1,600 run with a time of 5:04.99. The time was also his personal best. Also a personal best was William Scoggins placing eighth in the mile with a time of 5:06.85. In the 110 hurdles, Osborne missed out by 0.18 seconds on going to state, placing fifth overall with a time 17.4. In the 800 relay, the team placed sixth overall with a time of 1:39.97. The 400 relay placed fifth overall with a time of 47.03. In the shot put, senior Kindal Cushman placed fifth with a PR throw of 41-3. In the 300 hurdles, sophomore Ethan Peacock placed fifth with a time of 44.3. Junior Cole Barlow made it to the finals and placed sixth in both the open 400 and 200 dash races. In the 3,200 run, Scoggins placed fifth, running his best time of 11:13.78. The boys’ 1,600 relay ran a 3:34.14 for sixth place.
On the girls’ side, Hogan is on her fourth straight year of going to state in both the 800 and 1,600 runs. She placed fourth with a pre-qualifying time of 5:33.92 in the mile and also placed third in the 800 run with a time of 2:27.08. Also placing for the Lady Panthers was Holy Lepro in the shot put with a PR throw of 32-1, good enough for fourth place. Marie Morton placed seventh in the discus with a throw of 88-5 and Victoria Phelan placed sixth in the triple jump at 33-11.5.
At the end of the second day of competition, the boys’ team ended up with 47 points and in eighth place overall. The girls placed 12th with 21 points.
