MEEKER I A 23-year-old Meeker woman died in a one-vehicle rollover accident May 19 in Utah, but her three children, all under the age of 4, survived.
Lindy Ross was killed when her vehicle crashed on Highway 84, about three miles west of Tremonton, Utah. She was not wearing a seat belt.
Her three children — a 4-year-old boy, a 2-year-old girl and a 9-month-old boy — were secured in the vehicle and received only minor injuries. They were treated and released. A lieutenant with the highway patrol stayed with the children until family arrived.
“Seat belts really do save lives. That’s the great thing,” said Trooper Cameron Roden. “But it’s sad the children will have to grow up without their mother.”
According to the accident report, the vehicle Ross was driving — a 1997 Toyota pickup — veered into the center median and swerved back onto the highway before crashing and rolling over.
The accident occurred around 2:45 p.m. No cause has been determined yet.
