As the school year ramps up, Meeker Elementary School’s garden is looking abundant and green thanks to a summer gardening project involving Yampatika, ERBM Recreation & Park District, school staff, local businesses and volunteers.
The project was spearheaded this summer by Ann Franklin through Yampatika. Yampatika is a Northwest Colorado nonprofit that provides hands-on environmental education. The organization supported the idea, and Meeker Elementary School Principal Shana Holliday also approved the project.

What an incredible community effort! So wonderful to see Meeker Elementary’s garden brought back to life and creating a space where students can learn, explore, and connect with where their food comes from. Big Thank You to Ann, Yampatika, ERBM, the school staff, local businesses, and all of the volunteers who helped make this happen. This is hands-on environmental education at its best! Well done all!
