Reese is new director of nursing at Rangely District Hospital; new assistant also named

RANGELY — Nick Goshe, Rangely District Hospital chief operating officer, announced the hiring of Mary Reese as the hospital’s new director of nursing.
In another move, Goshe announced Sheryl Sheley has been promoted as assistant director of nursing.
Reese served as the hospital’s director of nursing nearly nine years ago under the leadership of then CEO Merrill Frank. Frank put his former nursing director in contact with Nick, when the position came open, and was pleased that she accepted an offer saying, “Mary is one of the finest nurses and administrators I’ve worked with. Her attention to patient care will be a tremendous asset to the hospital and the people of Rangely.”
A 34-year career professional, Reese has served in a clinical role as an intensive care nurse and in administrative roles as both assistant director and director of nursing positions. When previously living in Rangely, her husband, Jerry, was Rangely’s chief of police.
“It’s like coming home for us,”she said. “I have a fabulous team of nurses to work with at the hospital, and the people of Rangely just make this a spectacular town. We can’t wait to get back.”
This will be the second time Reese and Sheley have teamed together.
A staff nurse at RDH for the past 23 years, Sheley is a 37-year health care veteran.
She said of her new position, “We have an awesome team of nurses to work with and will offer the very best to every patient that comes in.”
Of her new director, Sheley said, “I credit Mary with many of my finer nursing skills. She was a fabulous mentor to me and I have nothing but respect for her.”
Sheley’s career has also covered both clinical and administrative roles, including those as a trauma nurse, clinic manager and nurse manager.
Hospital Board President Jack Rich added, “It was an excellent year in terms of hiring for the hospital, first with the promotion of Nick Goshe as our new CEO, now with Mary and Sheryl. Our leadership team is gaining depth and stability and we are very gratified that this staff has come together so well.”
Goshe concluded “I couldn’t be more pleased in terms of Mary returning to RDH and Sheryl’s promotion from within RDH. I have had the opportunity to work with Sheryl over the last year and I have seen her as a strong caring manager that looks out for the best interest of our patients and our community. I have not worked yet with Mary but have had the opportunity to interview her and speak with those that have worked with her and I am confident she possesses the same qualities as Sheryl. Between the two of them our nursing leadership team is strong and our leadership team as a whole is positioned for future success.”
