Letter: Report from the Rangely Food Bank

Since my last letter, the Rangely Food Bank has received two refrigerators from Byrne Equipment Sales of Craig and Albert Knoblock of Rangely. The Catholic Church has bought us a new upright freezer. We have received several food and toiletries donations and a cash donation of $100. Sales of peanut M&M’s amounted to $80.
Thank you to everybody for your continued help and support to see that nobody goes hungry.
This month we have been working on the senior food boxes for low-income seniors that provide 40 pounds of food a month from the Food Bank of the Rockies’ Commodity Supplement Food Program. If anybody wants more information or knows seniors that need help, please contact me at 620-3926.
The Rio Blanco BOCES will be heading the backpack program, which gives each student that gets free breakfast and lunch a backpack of food to take home for the weekend. We will be working to help them provide this food for the school year, but they still need more new or used back packs and cash donations as the projected cost of this program is $200 a month. For information or to make a donation for the backpack program, call 675-2064.
Linda Roedell and Leslie Nielsen did a wonderful job this summer with Kids Cafe. The Rangely Recreation Center generously let them use the kitchen area of their multipurpose room and the kids who came to eat on Thursday got to swim free. We are hoping to do this again next summer.
We have a wonderful and generous town, county and state to live in.
