Obituary: Nona Bell Wilczek

Nona Bell Wilczek
May 24, 1938~Sept. 3, 2010

Nona Bell Wilczek (Nonie) 72, of Rangely, passed away peacefully Sept. 3, 2010, in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a long battle with cirrhosis and cancer of the liver.
Born May 24, 1938, to Bernard W. Hazlewood and Leona (Moore) in De Beque, Nonie was raised in Rangely and on the family ranch outside of town. She was graduated from high school in 1956 and went on to attend Mesa State College in Grand Junction before marrying Harold Jones on Sept. 8, 1957, which ended in divorce. They had two daughters together, Cathy Jones of Rangely and Stacey Jones (deceased). On May 8 1967, she married Paul George Wilczek of Loyal, Okla. They had one son together, Paul Wilczek, of Salt Lake City.
Nonie was a bookkeeper and worked at the Rangely Clinic and Rangely District Hospital for doctors Puls, Smith and Todd. She developed many long-lasting friendships over the years there. Later she went to work as an office assistant for Chevron, where she retired in 2004 to spend more time at home with the family that she held so dear to her heart. The cirrhosis and diabetes that she battled were difficult on her, keeping her hospitalized a large amount of time in recent years. The loss of her husband of 43 years, Butch, on May 3 this past spring had been extremely challenging for her.
Nonie was an active member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Rangely. She enjoyed spending time with her many beloved nephews, nieces and friends, going fishing and taking long country drives with her husband to watch the wildlife at the lake or the band of wild horses that roam Douglas Creek, spending time at the family cabin, and helping others whenever she could.
She is survived by her daughter Cathy of Rangely and son Paul (wife Melissa) of Salt Lake, grandsons Micah and Gavin, granddaughter Marie, great-granddaughter Alexus, and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leona and Bernard Hazlewood, daughter Stacey Jones, brothers Bernard C. and Almer Hazlewood and sister Lois Wilczek.
