Rangely homecoming activities all week long

RANGELY I This is homecoming week at Rangely Senior High.
Students are encouraged to dress in black to show their Panther pride and the community is invited to attend the homecoming events.
The theme of homecoming is “Where were you when the lights went out?”
Today, the sophomore class is hosting a chili dinner at 5 p.m. at the recreation center kitchen and patio. The cost for adults is $7, children 12 and under are $5, a family of four is $20 and a family of five is $25.
The old Parkview Elementary School site will be the location of the bonfire, which starts at dusk. The bonfire is organized by the junior class.
Friday morning, the senior high classes will decorate their floats. They need to have them completed in time for the parade, which starts at 2 p.m.
At 4, 5 and 6 p.m. the Rangely Lady Panthers volleyball team will begin their matches with the Meeker Lady Cowboys.
There will be a tailgate party — pulled pork will be served — that will be held in the parking lot from 4-7 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults and $6 for children under 8. Then at 7 p.m., the Rangely football team will play Meeker. The 2010 homecoming king and queen will be crowned at halftime by the 2010 crown bearers: Rylee Allred and Kasen LeBleu. This year’s royalty are Mikayla Schoenfeld and Dennis Black, Victoria Phelan and Cole Barlow, and Rozilynn Thacker and Blake Wanstedt. The grand marshals, Jeff Miller and Mary Lansing, will also be recognized. Catherine Moreno and Connor Phelan are the freshmen attendants; sophomore attendants are Cassie Kenney and Chris Staley; and Jenny Dunker and Ethan Peacock are the junior class attendants.
On Saturday, the Rangely volleyball team will play the Paonia Eagles at noon, 1 and 2 p.m. The homecoming dance will begin at 9 p.m. at the EEC gym.
The students and staff at Rangely Junior/Senior High would like to welcome the community to join in showing Panther pride by attending the 2010 homecoming events. Also, the student council would like to thank everyone who helped support the annual duck race and for the continual support at all the high school events. The winners of the duck race were: first place: Lisa Piering; second place: Frank Huitt; and third place: Teresa Broderick. Thank you, Frank Huitt, for donating back to the student council.
