Earl W. “Bill” Lucki

Bill Lucki, Fruita, passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 14, 2009. He was 70 years old. Bill was born Aug. 24, 1938, in Denver, Colo. His parents were Jiacomo and Meri Anna (Mattivi) Lucki. He spent his childhood in Fruita and was graduated from Fruita High School. Bill attended Mesa College and served in the United States Army.
Bill spent 40 years in Meeker, Colo., and volunteered for the Meeker Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department and was an EMT. Bill managed The Independent Lumber Co. for a time and then worked for Glen Glasgow building homes. He retired from the construction field after running his own business “Lucky Construction.” Bill enjoyed building furniture and remodeling homes, he loved to garden and enjoyed history.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Joe and Carl Lucki, and two sisters; Anna Marcil and Violet Holland. He is survived by his daughter Amy Caprice (Jay) DuCray of Loma, Colo.; brothers, John Lucki, Mabton, Wash., Carl Marcil and Earnie Marcil, both of Denver, Colo.; sisters, Mary Hill, Lewiston, Idaho, Ruth Cang and Jean Nissen, both of Grand Junction, Colo., and Irene Beard, Craig, Colo.; grandchildren, Jacob, Taylor and Brielle DuCray.
Graveside services took place on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2009, at 2 p.m. in New Elmwood Cemetery in Fruita with the Combined Military Honor Guard officiating.
