4H poultry, rabbit club meets
MEEKER — The Meeker 4-H Poultry and Rabbit Club had a meeting on March 12. Leader Bonnie Coryell was present as well as Julia Keeler, Maggie Phelan, Sydney Hughes and Grant Sanderson. Officers were elected and members discussed their projects for the fair. At the next meeting on April 9 there will be demonstrations.

What it costs to live in NW Colorado
RBC — A new study by the Colorado Fiscal Policy Institute shows a single adult with one preschool child needs to earn $37,500 a year to live in Garfield County, $28,500 in Mesa County, $26,284 in Delta County, $28,401 in Montrose County and $35,471 in Rio Blanco County.

ERBM hosting Spring Social
MEEKER — The ERBM Recreation and Park District would like to invite everyone age 50 and older to the fifth annual Spring Social, Friday, April 4 at 2:30 p.m. at the Meeker Rec. Center. There will be free food, fun and entertainment. Bring a friend and double the fun.

Golf association meets Monday
MEEKER — Rio Blanco Golf Association’s regular meeting will be Monday, April 7 at 7 p.m. at the Meeker Golf Course.

Meeker Pow Wow meeting April 8
MEEKER — Please join us Tuesday, April 8 at Mountain Valley Bank in Meeker at 6:30 p.m. Author Bob Silbernagel will discuss his upcoming book: photos, music, questions and answers. We are looking for volunteers, hosts and people with ideas.

Patterson named to state committee
RANGELY — Gov. Bill Ritter recently announced appointments to a variety of statewide boards and commissions. Mark S. Patterson of Rangely has been appointed to the collaborative scopes of care advisory committee.

RBC Historical Society meets
April 6
MEEKER — The Rio Blanco County Historical Society quarterly meeting and pot luck dinner will be this Sunday, April 6, at the Kilowatt Korner at 1 p.m.
Old timer Vern Amick will give a historical talk about growing up in the White River Valley.  See you there.  Questions call the museum at 878-9982.

Council hosting event at Kilowatt Korner
RBC — Please join the Northwest Colorado Council for Children and Families April 15 from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Kilowatt Korner, Sixth and Market streets in Meeker to learn more about being a part of the establishment of the council. Dinner will be provided and catered by Ma Famiglia. Please RSVP to Debbie Yeager at 824-8282, ext. 47, by March 28. Indicate vegetarian meal preference or any handicap accommodations you may need.

“Home of” 411
RANGELY — This week’s “home of” honorees are Tommy and Dorothy Collins of Rangely. Tommy has been a resident of Rangely since 1946. Tommy was graduated from Rangely High School with the Class of 1952. Following graduation he joined the army and served in Germany. Dorothy moved to Rangely in 1956 to teach first-grade at Rangely Elementary. Tommy and Dorothy were married April 6, 1958, in the Rangely Christian Church.
Tommy owned his own auto shop in Rangely. He worked for Rangely High School teaching auto mechanics and spent five years as assistant principal, retiring with 25 years of service.
Dorothy continued to teach first grade in Rangely, retiring after 29 years.
Tommy and Dorothy have three children: David, Tim and Michelle. They have six granddaughters and one grandson they love spending time with.
Dorothy has been active in Epsilon Chi for 46 years. Since retirement the two have volunteered more than 3,000 hours at the Colorado Welcome Center in Dinosaur. Both have been active in the Rangely Christian Church for more than 50 years.
They will celebrate their 50th anniversary this Sunday, April 6 at an open house at 1260 La Mesa Cir. in Rangely from 2-5 p.m.
