Horse adoption database available

Equidopt.org has been launched by the Colorado Unwanted Horse Alliance (CUHA) and allows people interested in adopting a horse to search an online database of horses that are available from equine rescues in Colorado by criteria like breed, age, gender, discipline and region. Equidopt also helps equine rescues to match more horses with good homes by reaching out to a larger audience.
“A person looking to adopt a horse will no longer have to search through several different websites. We’ve made it as easy as possible for the public to adopt a horse rather than buy one,” said Christopher Whitney, CUHA board president. “Equidopt offers convenient, one-stop-shopping for horse adopters. As far as we know, this equine-only adoption database is the first of its kind in the country. We look forward to seeing it grow in coming months.”
As of March 2011, eight Colorado horse rescues are participating in the website and have already posted several of their horses.
“Providing this centralized database where the public can look for adoptable horses from several rescues will increase the visibility each rescue has and in turn will save lives by increasing adoptions,” Whitney said.
