4-H Council Report
by Macy Collins
The regular monthly meeting of the Meeker 4-H Council was held on May 5, at the Extension office kitchen. President Taylor Neilson called the meeting order. Colby Clatterbaugh led the pledges. There were seven members, three parents and no guests in attendance. The minutes from the April meeting were approved. Kelsey Gross was not present to give a treasurer’s report.
Old Business: The 4-H members did a great job selling butter braids. The Easter egg stuffing for the Easter egg hunt went very well. For the mini trip make sure to get your sign-in forms to the Extension office. We discussed that we would like to go to the Denver Firefighter Museum on last day of the mini trip.
New Business: The 2011 fair dance was approved at the Fair board meeting. It will be on Aug. 5 from 9-12. We need chaperones. 4-H members need to tell their clubs. The 2012 fair theme is “Rock With The Stock.” Get your coloring ideas in now.
Other Business: Each council member gave a report on what their club is doing. We decorated tote bags with the 4-H emblem on it with fabric markers and regular markers. The next meeting will be rescheduled to June 1 because of the mini trip.
Swine Club Report
By Dayton Willey
This month’s meeting, which was on May 9, was about the records books. We talked about the ear tags, feed and how much feed does each pig need.
We also talked about how much medicine each pig will need and the cost. There are also several different kinds of medicine like dewormer.
We talked about other expenses that will be needed such as a brush, pig stick or heat lamp, etc.
We talked about feed tags and the ingredients such as the main ingredients and where to find them. Stay tuned for my next report.
The next pig meeting will be on June 6, 2011, at 7 p.m. Thank you for your time!
Vet Science Report
By Kolbi Franklin
The Meeker 4-H Vet Science met April 21, and we discussed the next meeting. This was one hour and this was our fourth meeting so far.
During this meeting we listened to a demonstration by Kirsten Brown. Kirsten talked about her cat Izzy and where she found her. Kirsten and Faith received their secretary and treasurer books.
I also learned how to run a meeting, as I am also the president of this club.
