Students raise funds for St. Jude Hospital

MEEKER — To culminate a month of learning about “caring,” the students of Meeker Elementary School thought of others who would truly appreciate a special gift. This year, our school chose to raise money to donate to St. Jude’s Hospital.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, located in Memphis, is one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers. All patients are treated regardless of the family’s ability to pay.
Students were encouraged to earn money themselves to instill the significance of caring and giving. We graphed our progress through the month of December on a giant thermometer near the lunch line. We are thrilled to report that we earned a total of $1,136.31. We hope that this will positively affect the lives of some children who truly needed a special holiday gift.
