Panthers earn big win over Tigers

Rangely sophomore Hailee Russell goes in for a kill, while senior Haeley Enterline (2) and junior Heather Turner (12) assist. The Panthers will be in Meeker Saturday for a triangular with Vail Christian and host lady Cowboys, with matches starting at 10 a.m.
The Rangely volleyball team came away from the weekend with a big win over the Hayden Tigers, despite having to take the court without without senior Quincy Thacker, who missed the game due to illness, and a rolled ankle that took Brittney Babineaux out of play during the game. Babineaux still managed eight kills in the game and 11 serves without an error.
The Panthers proved they are a complete team, beating the Tigers in three games behind the strong play of Haeley Enterline who had a team high 16 kills and 13 serves. The senior demonstrated leadership and versatility, successfully playing the middle blocker position. Haliee Russell added four kills for the team and Aimee Hogan added 15 serves.
“A team is defined as a group of individuals coming together no matter the obstacles to create success. We won in three over a very explosive team,” said coach Dennis Rohn. “These girls are very special. I am just honored to be apart of their journey.”
The Panthers beat Hayden in tough games winning the first 25-18, then an intense 27-25 win and a third 26-24. The girls stuck together and did not let the Tigers tenacity stop them. This was a big win for the team to learn what they are made of and add momentum going into the weekend ahead.
Rangely travels to Meeker Saturday for a triangular including Vail Christian. This will give the team a second chance against Vail and an opportunity to continue their winning streak. As always, coach Rohn anticipates great competition from Meeker and again complimented the job Meeker coach Christy Atwood does to prepare her team.
Rohn plans his team game by game and is eager for the challenge that awaits. The Panthers seem to be putting the pieces together for a big season and with the total team effort they have demonstrated thus far, the weekend looks to offer great volleyball.
