Rangely

HOME OF: Darlene Feller

RANGELY | Darlene Feller of Rangely is this week’s “home of” honoree. 10 years ago, Darlene moved from Arkansas to Eagle then came to Rangely. “I was born in Los Angeles, Calif., in 1941 when it was still little. Besides California, Arkansas and Colorado, I’ve also lived in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wyoming and Nevada,” Darlene stated.
During the 1990s to 2000, Darlene was a manager of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory stores for 10 years. Darlene has worked for the Town of Rangely’s senior program for four years and is currently helping out at the Rangely Chamber of Commerce. She has been the director of the Rangely Food Bank for 10 years, sells Avon and is a volunteer for Rangely Victim Services. “I have learned to say ‘no’ to some volunteer opportunities which is amazing,” Darlene added.
Darlene has six children, 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Her daughter Kim Essery lives in Las Vegas, Nev., has three children and five grandchildren. Darlene’s daughter Debbie Menter “passed away this May a week after Mother’s Day.” Debbie left behind four children and one grandchild. Darlene’s son Clifford Menter passed away in 2002. Clifford did not have any children. Darlene’s other children all reside in Bullhead City, Ariz. Wesley Rutherford and his wife Beth have seven children and four grandchildren.
Phillip Rutherford and his wife Becky have two children. Brent Rutherford and his wife Susan have five children.
“I like to play on the computer. I enjoy online shopping and used to enjoy crocheting, but now have arthritis, so it’s too hard on my hands now. I love to go camping, love to Sea-Doo, love any water sports including water skiing, but my doctor told me I had to start behaving myself since I was getting older,” Darlene explained.
“I love the people here. They are so friendly. In the summertime, I love the weather. I don’t mind the snow either, it’s really pretty. I just don’t like getting out in it. I came here looking for a place that I could afford to live and ended up renting an apartment,” Darlene said.
