Community candidate reception Feb. 3

MEEKER I The Town of Meeker received 31 applications for the position of town administrator that will become available in the spring when longtime administrator Sharon Day retires. Mayor Mandi Etheridge and the board of trustees have narrowed down the field to four finalists. The finalists will be invited to Meeker for a community reception, open to the public, to be held at Town Hall, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 3. Community members will have the opportunity to meet with each candidate.
The candidates will be assessed through interview panels on Saturday, Feb. 4. The interview panels will include the town board, planning commission and town staff members. The finalists will also receive a town tour.
The finalists are:
– Bret Howser is currently serving as the budget officer for Park City, Utah, and has eight years of experience with municipal government in Park City and Cedar Hills, Utah. He is also a general partner and co-founder of Intermountain Public Partners, a public sector management consulting firm. He has earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Brigham Young University, as well as a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Utah.
– Scott W. Meszaros is the town clerk for Monument, Colo. He has a variety of work experience including assistant director of Colorado State University’s GEAR-UP program and grant administrator for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in Castle Rock, Colo. He has earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Colorado State University, as well as a Master of public administration degree from Troy State University.
– Greg Severance has more than 20 years of municipal experience and most recently served as the director of public works for Pueblo County in Pueblo, Colo. He also worked for the City of Pueblo as the traffic engineer, as well as the director of transportation for Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments in Colorado Springs, Colo. He has earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Southern Colorado in Pueblo, as well as a master of public administration degree from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
– Denise Sulski is the community liaison for Colorado Springs Utilities, and previously served as a director for the Clean Air Campaign. She has more than 10 years of public service experience with a focus in community relations, strategic planning, grant writing and project management. She has earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs, as well as a master of arts in organizational management from the University of Phoenix.
