RANGELY — Last Saturday night the Rangely Panthers ended league play on a high note with a victory over Hayden 82-70. Even after a very tough victory over Meeker Friday night, the Panthers came out strong and outscored Hayden 20-8 in the first quarter. The game was never close.
Blocking 10 shots and getting 11 steals, the Panthers did a great job on defense and didn’t let Hayden get a flow in the game.
The Panthers also did a solid job on the offensive side by having four players in double figures. Leading the Panthers was Patrick Phelan with 19 points, followed closely by Keenan Harvey with 17 points and seven rebounds.
Also playing a solid game for the Panthers was Michael Morton with 11 points, nine rebounds and seven blocked shots. Tim Willis scored 12 points, Kanden Brady eight points. Lewis Murray six points, Adam Dahl three points and Blake Meacham two points. Mark Hinaman and James Herrera each finished with one point. With the victory, the Panthers gained the No. 2 seed in the districts and host West Grand on Saturday.
Just a note, on Saturday, Kindal Cushman scored 39 points in the JV game in an 81-74 overtime loss.
