Local author Lou Dean, along with donkey Jesse James and dogs Keeper and Lucky, was photographed at her Blue Mountain home last week for a story that will appear in a special Guideposts Christmas publication this December. The story, about loss and finding the courage to love again, will follow Lou Dean’s newest book, Boys From the Bushes, to be published by the Oklahoma Heritage Association this fall.
In 2008, Dean was one of 15 readers selected from thousands of applicants to attend a Guideposts writers’ workshop in Rye, N.Y. In addition to several pieces that will appear in a Guideposts devotional this fall, Lou Dean has over a dozen articles in print in Guideposts and its sister magazine, Angels on Earth. She has been part of the Rangely and Blue Mountain communities for 30 years and now divides her time between Blue Mountain and her native Oklahoma.
