Obituary: Harold Lee Schofield

Filled with the love, grace and peace of Jesus, Harold Lee Schofield went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 25. His body losing the battle with Parkinson’s disease, but his spirit gaining eternal life through the God he served faithfully.
Harold was born Feb. 22, 1938, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Earl and Rebecca Schofield. He grew up in Denver and was graduated from East High School. He continued on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in business with a major in accounting from the University of Denver. Upon graduation he passed the certified public accountant exam and began a 30-year career in public accounting, the last 25 years of which were in Meeker and Rangely. He greatly enjoyed his work and the people he served, and he strove for honesty and integrity as a businessman. Harold served on the governmental accounting and auditing committee of the Colorado Society of CPAs. Harold loved the outdoors and Colorado. He fished and hunted in many places in the mountains and also in Canada and Alaska. Harold left a great legacy of faith. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church, serving many years as a trustee. He enjoyed a full life of 73 rewarding years and looked forward to the time he could be joined with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven. We rejoice with him at his home going.
Harold’s family was of utmost importance to him and he dearly loved each of them. He is survived by his children, Lawrence (Marion) Schofield of Olympia, Wash.; Douglas (Jackie) Schofield, of Tokeland, Wash.; Patricia (Ken) Locati of San Diego, Calif.; Elizabeth Schofield of Denver; Cheryl (Chris) Morris of Dayton, Ohio; and Samuel Schofield of Denver; six grandchildren; brother, Mervin (Clara) Schofield; six nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends. His parents, Earl and Rebecca, and wife, Gail, preceded him in death.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 23 at Bible Baptist Church in Rangely.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
